Amsterdam: The Skinny Bridge

The most famous of Amsterdam’s double draw bridges, the skinny bridge (Magere Brug – so-called due to its narrow proportions, dates from 1840. It was restored in 1934.
This is one of the most photographed spots in Amsterdam.
The bridge crosses the Amstel, the river from which Amsterdam — dam in the Amstel — derived its name.
