Prettiest stall on the floating Flowermarket
While popular with the tourists, in recent years Amsterdam’s floating flowermarket has become somewhat controversial. Tourists don’t buy fresh flowers, so most of the market’s merchants carry items tourists do buy: anything from flower bulbs to a plethora of typical souvenirs.
This has prompted local politicians - who seemingly are always looking for something to occupy themselves with as long as it is not anything of real importance - to come up with lots of rules and regulations that, some say, will drive many of the merchants out of business.
That said, the picture shows just a portion of the prettiest flower shop on the market. When you enter the market from Muntplein, you’ll find it right at the start of the Singel canal.
